Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran is an American businesswoman. In 2001, she launched The Corcoran Group in New York City. She later sold the company to NRT for $66 million. Shortly thereafter she left the company. Corcoran is among ABC's initial Shark Tank investors. As of now she has appeared on each season of Shark Tank. As of February 2020 she had signed 53 deals. One of them was a purchase of $350,000 to Coverplay at 40 percent. Corcoran was born in Edgewater, New Jersey, the second child of 10 in a middle class Irish-Catholic family. Florence Corcoran was Florence's mom and was a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father during Corcoran's childhood. Her family depended sometimes on the food provided by a friendly local grocer for free food. Corcoran recalls her father, one who would drink too much and behaved towards her mother in a manner that was disrespectful and condescendingly, especially after he'd consumed several drinks. Corcoran struggled through her schooling, later learning that she had dyslexia. Corcoran began high school in St. Cecilia High School Englewood, after she left her Catholic elementary school. Corcoran, who had failed numerous classes in her freshman year, transferred to Leonia High School. There she was awarded a D.
